How to Measure
Let’s make sure an inside mount will work for your cellular shades!
Using a metal tape measure, first check your inside mounting depth. Depth is measured from the window glass/back of the opening to the front edge where the brackets will sit.
Minimum inside depth for bracket mounting:
• Cordless 3/8" Single Cell: at least 1"
• Cordless 5/8" Single Cell: at least 1 3/16"
Depth required for a flush mount:
• Cordless 3/8" Single Cell: 1 11/16"
• Cordless 5/8" Single Cell: 2 1/8"
A flush mount means the shade is fully recessed inside the window opening.
If your window does not have enough depth, please use our Outside Mount instructions.
How to Measure:
Let’s start with the Width:
- Measure the inside width of the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom to the nearest 1/8".
- Use the narrowest measurement as your ordering width. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8".
Now, let’s do the Height:
- Measure the inside height of the window opening at the left, middle, and right to the nearest 1/8".
- Use the tallest measurement as your ordering height.
Important: Always enter the actual window opening measurements. Do not make any deductions yourself. We will make the necessary factory deduction for an inside mount to ensure proper fit and smooth operation.

Before measuring, decide where you want to mount your cellular shade: above the window opening, above the trim, directly on the trim, or on a door.
Make sure there is enough flat mounting surface for the brackets.
Minimum flat mounting surface:
• Cordless 3/8" Single Cell:
1 3/4"
• Cordless 5/8" Single Cell:
1 7/16"
If mounting space is limited,
extension brackets can be purchased separately.
For an outside mount, your ordering measurements should include the amount of extra coverage you want around the window.
Above the Window (No Trim) ›
Width:
For better light control and privacy, we recommend extending the shade 2"–4" on each side of the window opening when space allows.
Measure the total desired coverage from left to right. This is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from where the top of the shade will be mounted down to where you want the bottom of the shade to stop. This is your ordering height.
Above the Trim ›
Width:
We recommend extending the shade 2"–3" beyond each side of the window opening for better coverage and light control.
Measure the total desired coverage from left to right. This is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from where the top of the shade will be mounted above the trim down to your desired stopping point. This is your ordering height.
On The Trim ›
We do not normally recommend mounting cellular shades directly on the trim unless your window configuration does not allow another mounting position.
Width:
Measure the available flat trim from left to right. Make sure the shade fits within the available mounting area. This is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from the top mounting position down to your desired bottom position. This is your ordering height.
Door Mount ›
Width:
Measure the area you want the shade to cover. If space allows, we recommend extending the shade 2"–4" wider than the glass area for better light control and privacy.
Height:
Measure from where the top of the shade will be mounted down to where you want the bottom of the shade to stop. This is your ordering height.

Important Notes
- Manufacturing tolerances may vary by approximately ±1/8". Please enter your exact window measurements and do not make your own deductions. Any required factory deductions will be applied during production.
- The front and back of the blackout fabric are different colors. The room-facing side is your selected fabric color, while the street-facing side is white for a clean, consistent exterior appearance that meets most HOA requirements.
- The fabric itself is 100% light blocking. With an inside mount, small light gaps may still appear around the edges because clearance is required for proper operation. For maximum room darkening, consider an outside mount.
- Choose between 3/8" and 5/8" single-cell constructions. The main difference is the visual profile: 3/8" creates a slimmer, lower-profile look, while 5/8" creates fuller, more dimensional folds.
- Cellular construction creates insulating air pockets that help reduce heat transfer through the window and improve year-round indoor comfort.
