AquaDark Waterproof Blackout Collection
Marine‑Grade PVC
AquaDark is built for environments that punish ordinary materials. Its marine‑grade PVC blend incorporates biocides to prevent fungal growth, UV absorbers to stop chalking and fading, and cold‑flex plasticizers that keep it supple even in freezing temperatures. It has endured 1,000 hours of salt‑fog exposure with no visible degradation—the same standard required for offshore yacht enclosures. This is vinyl engineered for extremes.
Zero Light Transmission
AquaDark achieves blackout performance through a 2.5% carbon‑black loading—one of the most effective light‑absorbing pigments available. Carbon black captures incoming photons and dissipates them as heat, ensuring 0.00% measurable light transmission at all thicknesses. There’s no laminate to peel, no coating to scratch; the opacity is inherent and permanent.
Salt‑Fog Tested
Coastal environments demand more than waterproofing—they require resistance to salt‑air corrosion. AquaDark has been tested to ASTM B117 for 1,000 hours with no blistering, cracking, or loss of flexibility. Hardware is upgraded to 316 stainless steel or coated aluminum, and installations within one mile of the ocean are covered by a 5‑year corrosion warranty.
Hose‑Cleanable
Maintenance is refreshingly simple. Lower the shade and hose it off—salt spray, pollen, and grease rinse away instantly. The non‑porous surface sheds water completely and dries within minutes. For stubborn grime, a soft brush and mild detergent are all you need. No uninstallation required.
Outdoor Rated
Most roller shades are strictly indoor products, but AquaDark is engineered for fully exposed outdoor use—patios, pergolas, outdoor kitchens—provided the hardware is shielded from direct rainfall. The PVC formulation is UV‑stabilized and will not chalk or become brittle. For outdoor setups, we recommend motorization and a protective valance to shield the roller tube.
Available in Light‑Filtering Too
If you need waterproof durability without full blackout, AquaDark also comes in a translucent 20%‑open version. It’s ideal for outdoor showers, pool cabanas, and spa spaces where privacy and natural light need to coexist. The translucent option shares the same palette and surface textures as the blackout version, keeping the aesthetic consistent.
