WHAT ARE Roller Shades?
Roller shades are a versatile and stylish window treatment option that suits a wide range of spaces. These sleek shades consist of a flat panel that winds around a roller, allowing you to easily adjust the amount of light or privacy in your room. Available in a variety of sizes, roller shades look great on both small and large windows, and they come in a wide range of colors, patterns, and textures, making it simple to find a style that matches your home decor. Whether you prefer a minimalist vibe or a touch of sophistication, roller shades can enhance your space. They’re also practical—typically made from fabric, vinyl, or other synthetic materials that block light effectively. Their streamlined design makes them easy to layer with curtains or drapes, offering both functionality and style.
Why Choose Roller Shades
- Easy-to-Clean: Getting grime and stains off of a roller shade is quite simple, especially if you select a vinyl shade. This makes roller blinds ideal for high-traffic areas.
- Low Profile: Since a roller shade is so compact when you raise it, it won't distract from your view.
- Customizable Light Control: These shades come with a variety of light control levels. Depending on your needs, you can select a blackout shade or a sheer shade.
- Resistant to Moisture: If you need to cover windows in a bathroom or kitchen, these are a great choice. A moisture-resistant roller shade won't warp or discolor in a humid spot.
- Affordable: As long as you choose a more budget-friendly material, roller blinds are very affordable. However, if you want extra luxury, you always have the option of ordering more elegant fabrics.
Important Considerations
Before choosing Roller Shades, keep these points in mind:
- Some light-filtering fabrics will still display faint silhouettes to outside viewers. If this is a concern, you may want a thicker fabric.
- When ordering shades with patterns, pay close attention to scale. Tiny patterns can look a little busy on larger shades.
- The shade itself is fairly slim, but the roll can be a little thicker. Some shallow windows may only work with an outside mount.
FAQ
How do roller shades work?
Roller Shades work by pulling on the beaded chain to raise or lower your shade. You can also upgrade to a cordless lift system to eliminate any hanging cords.
How to clean roller shades?
Never submerge your roller shades in water. For vinyl roller shades, wipe them with warm, soapy water. For fabric roller shades, use the brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner while holding the shade from the back.
Will my roller shades have light gaps?
Depending on where you mount your roller shades, you might have light gaps on the sides. The material for the roller shades is approximately 1¼” narrower than the mechanism leaving small gaps on both sides of the shade when mounted on the inside of the window. Please seek the advice of our Design Consultant if you have additional questions regarding roller shades light gaps.
