DayNight Honeycomb Dual Shades
Dual Honeycomb Construction
Unlike dual shades that pair a cellular blackout panel with a non‑cellular sheer, DayNight Honeycomb features cellular construction on both panels. Each panel contains its own independently sealed honeycomb cells that trap still air. When both panels are lowered, you gain two full layers of insulation—approximately R‑4 to R‑6, depending on cell size.
Independent Operation
Both panels operate independently via separate lift mechanisms (cordless, wand, or motorized). Lower the sheer panel for soft daylight while keeping the blackout panel raised; lower the blackout panel for total darkness while keeping the sheer panel lifted; or lower both for maximum insulation and full blackout. No single‑layer shade offers this level of flexibility.
Ideal for Extreme Temperatures
DayNight Honeycomb shades excel on windows exposed to intense heat or cold. The dual‑layer cellular design creates a super‑insulating barrier that dramatically reduces heat transfer. In winter, the trapped air cells retain warmth; in summer, they resist solar gain. Energy savings can be substantial, especially on large or south‑facing windows.
Acoustic Superiority
Two layers of honeycomb fabric provide significantly better sound absorption than one. DayNight Honeycomb shades reduce perceived noise by up to 50% (ASTM E413), making them ideal for homes near airports, highways, rail lines, or dense urban environments. The combination of fabric mass and trapped air cells forms an effective acoustic buffer.
Available in All DayNight Colors
DayNight Honeycomb shades are available in the full 12‑color DayNight palette, including both tonal and contrast combinations. The sheer panel uses our standard light‑filtering cellular fabric; the blackout panel uses our TripleCell blackout fabric. Both are available in the same cell size for a unified appearance.
Motorization Recommended
Because two layers of honeycomb fabric are significantly heavier than a single layer, we recommend motorized operation for widths over 60 inches. Our high‑torque motors are calibrated for dual‑layer weight and feature soft‑start/soft‑stop technology for smooth, quiet movement.
