Shantung Silk‑Weave Series – Light Filtering
Lustrous, Not Glossy
Shantung’s signature glow comes from the way silk refracts light through its triangular fiber structure. Our polyester interpretation recreates that effect using modified trilobal fibers with a similar prism‑like profile. Instead of a harsh, mirror‑like shine, the fabric emits a soft internal glow—elegant in candlelight, refined in daylight, never flashy or plastic‑looking.
Irregular Slub Texture
The slubs are the soul of Shantung. They’re not flaws—they’re the artistry. Our version is woven on air‑jet looms programmed to introduce thick‑and‑thin yarns at naturally irregular intervals. No two slubs repeat, giving each shade its own organic character. These raised threads catch light and cast delicate shadows, adding dimensionality that flat fabrics simply can’t replicate.
Rich Jewel Tones
While traditional Shantung leans neutral, this collection embraces saturated, gem‑inspired hues:
-
Mulberry — deep magenta with dramatic warmth
-
Jade — vibrant green with a contemporary edge
-
Sapphire — rich navy, timeless and grounding
-
Saffron — golden yellow with radiant energy
These colors are achieved through high‑energy dyeing that fully penetrates the trilobal fibers, creating exceptional depth and clarity.
Wrinkle‑Resistant
Real silk Shantung wrinkles easily and permanently. Our polyester version is thermally set during production, locking the fabric into a smooth, wrinkle‑free state. If stored rolled for long periods, a slight curl may appear at the bottom edge, but it relaxes within 24 hours once the shade is lowered. No steaming or ironing required.
Light‑Filtering Performance
Shantung’s light‑filtering construction has an openness factor of about 4%, offering excellent daytime privacy while allowing a soft, ambient glow to fill the room. UV protection exceeds 85%, helping preserve furnishings. Because the unique fiber structure doesn’t accept blackout laminates without losing its signature sheen, this fabric is available light‑filtering only.
