Organica Natural Fiber Roman Shades
Artisanal Hand‑Weaving
Organica is crafted the way natural shades should be—by master artisans in Southeast Asia using traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations. Fibers are hand‑sorted, sometimes dyed with natural pigments, and woven on wooden looms. This slow, intentional process creates subtle, beautiful irregularities: a thicker weft strand here, a slight tonal shift there. No two shades are identical. Each piece arrives with a certificate of authenticity noting its origin and the artisan cooperative that produced it.
Three Natural Fiber Families
Organica offers three distinct natural materials, each with its own character:
-
Bamboo — smooth, uniform strips ranging from pale blonde to amber; FSC‑certified
-
Jute — warm, earthy fibers with a soft sheen and natural golden flecks; grown without pesticides
-
Seagrass — nubby, coastal texture in green‑brown hues; naturally stain‑resistant and grown in saltwater estuaries
Each fiber family is available in open, medium, and tight weave densities, allowing you to tailor both texture and light filtration.
Light Filtering or Blackout Liner
Natural fibers filter light beautifully but offer limited nighttime privacy. For bedrooms or media spaces, Organica shades can be paired with an optional white‑backed blackout liner that delivers full privacy and 100% light blockage. The liner attaches only at the top and bottom bars, so it rolls and folds smoothly with the natural fiber without restricting movement or adding bulk.
Motorization Recommended
Natural fiber shades are substantially heavier than synthetic fabrics—sometimes up to four times the weight per square foot. Cordless spring systems work well on narrow shades (under 48 inches), but for wider installations we strongly recommend motorization. Our high‑torque motors are calibrated to the specific weight of each fiber type and use soft‑start/soft‑stop control for smooth, level lifting.
Eco‑Conscious & Sustainable
Every Organica material is rapidly renewable:
-
Bamboo matures in 3–5 years
-
Jute is harvested annually
-
Seagrass regenerates quickly in coastal estuaries
All cooperatives follow fair‑labor standards, and no old‑growth forests are impacted. At end of life, the natural fiber portion is biodegradable (liner and hardware excluded).
Care & Maintenance
Natural fibers thrive when kept dry. They’re not suited for kitchens, bathrooms, or other high‑humidity environments. For routine care, dust with a feather duster or vacuum gently with a brush attachment. Avoid wet cleaning—moisture can cause warping or mildew. Stubborn soil should be handled by a professional dry cleaner. The optional blackout liner is polyester and can be spot‑cleaned.
Custom Sizes & Shapes
Organica shades can be fabricated up to 96 inches wide and 120 inches in drop. Special shapes—arches, trapezoids, hexagons—are available with an extended lead time. The natural fiber is cut with a hot knife to prevent fraying, and edges are finished with matching cotton tape for a polished, durable result.
