Battery or Hardwired: You Decide

Battery motors are the most popular choice for retrofits. The battery pack is concealed inside the headrail, and a single charge lasts 3–5 years under normal use (about two cycles per day). Rechargeable lithium‑ion packs are included, and low‑battery alerts are sent through the app.

Hardwired motors connect to low‑voltage transformers—either plug‑in or in‑wall—and provide unlimited runtime with zero maintenance. Hardwiring is ideal for new construction, commercial projects, or shades that will be operated frequently.

Precision Positioning

SmartDrive motors offer ⅛‑inch incremental lift positioning. Program presets with pinpoint accuracy—your “Afternoon” mode might lower the shade to exactly 24 inches from the sill. The motor stores your preferences and can activate them by schedule, sunrise/sunset, or voice command.

Designed for Cellular Shades

Cellular shades require precise tensioning to stack evenly. SmartDrive motors use soft‑start/soft‑stop technology to prevent jerking and ensure the shade rises level. Motor speed is automatically calibrated to fabric weight; heavier blackout shades move slightly slower for smooth, controlled operation.

Sunrise/Sunset Automation

Using your home’s GPS coordinates, the app can automatically open shades at sunrise and close them at sunset. This enhances convenience and improves energy efficiency—closing shades during hot afternoons reduces cooling load. A “vacation mode” randomizes shade movement to help deter intruders.

Scene Creation & Integration

Create scenes that coordinate multiple shades and other smart devices:

  • Morning — Open east‑facing shades to 50%

  • Movie Time — Close all shades and dim the lights

  • Away — Randomize shade operation

Scenes can be triggered by voice, app, schedule, or sensors (e.g., close shades when room temperature exceeds 78°F).

Retrofit Kits Available

Already own manual cellular shades? Upgrade them with our retrofit motor kit. Each kit includes a motor, battery pack, and remote. Installation takes about 20 minutes with basic tools. Compatible with most ¾‑inch and 1⅛‑inch cellular shade headrails.
