GameRoom Blackout Series
Screen Glare Elimination
Glare is the enemy of both projectors and flat‑panel displays. Our blackout fabrics absorb more than 99% of incident light, preventing the veiling reflections that wash out blacks and mute colors. Unlike standard blackout materials that can have a slight sheen, GameRoom fabrics use a matte, light‑absorbing topcoat with a gloss level under 5 units (ASTM D523)—the same finish used in commercial cinema environments. When the shade is lowered, your display becomes the room’s sole light source.
Ambient Light Rejection for HDR
High Dynamic Range (HDR) content depends on deep blacks and bright highlights. Any ambient light reduces that contrast dramatically. GameRoom blackout shades create the darkness required to perceive the full dynamic range of modern displays. Shadow detail becomes visible instead of crushed, and bright highlights gain intensity. Gamers benefit too—enemies hiding in dark corners become easier to spot when the room is properly darkened.
Quiet Motor Operation
A noisy motor can ruin a quiet film moment or break immersion during gameplay. GameRoom shades use 24V DC motors with helical gearing, producing less than 35 dBA at a distance of three feet—quieter than a library. The motors operate at a deliberately slow 6 inches per second to avoid the harsh “whiplash” sound of fast‑unrolling fabric. For multi‑shade setups, motors can be synchronized so they rise and lower in perfect unison.
Dark Color Palette
While our standard blackout line spans more than 30 colors, GameRoom focuses on deep, saturated hues that absorb stray light and complement media‑room aesthetics:
-
Charcoal — neutral, versatile dark grey
-
Graphite — warm, brown‑based depth
-
Midnight Blue — rich navy that pairs beautifully with accent lighting
-
Forest Green — earthy and immersive
All colors are available in smooth or textured finishes.
Gamer‑Friendly Accessories
Enhance the experience with optional RGB LED backlighting kits that mount behind the headrail, casting a customizable glow onto the wall. These can sync with gaming ecosystems like Razer Chroma or Corsair iCUE (via third‑party controller). For acoustic refinement, we also offer attachable bottom‑bar acoustic panels that reduce echo in untreated rooms.
