MD599 Damask Roman Shades
Woven Jacquard Construction
MD599 is crafted on a true jacquard loom, where each warp thread is individually controlled to form intricate damask motifs. Unlike printed patterns that sit on the surface and can fade or peel, these designs are structurally woven into the fabric itself. The contrast between lustrous satin floats and matte grounds creates depth and dimension that will never wash out or wear away. This is damask in its most authentic form.
Three Timeless Patterns
The MD599 collection offers three classic motifs, each scaled for residential windows with repeats of 12–18 inches:
-
Acorn — an organic, asymmetrical foliate pattern with a relaxed traditional feel
-
Medallion — a centered, symmetrical floral medallion for a more formal, classic look
-
Stripe — vertical satin stripes on a matte ground, ideal for transitional interiors
Each pattern brings its own personality while maintaining the sophistication of woven jacquard.
Tonal Color Palette
MD599’s patterns are tonal, meaning the design emerges from weave structure rather than contrasting colors. From across the room, the fabric reads as a refined solid; up close, the damask reveals itself subtly.
Color families include: Neutrals: Ivory, Greige, Silver, Charcoal Jewel Tones: Navy, Burgundy, Forest, Aubergine
All colors are solution‑dyed, ensuring excellent fade resistance and long‑term color stability.
Light‑Filtering & Room‑Darkening
MD599 is available in two performance levels:
-
Light‑Filtering (5% openness) — the damask pattern becomes beautifully visible when backlit
-
Room‑Darkening (80% light block) — achieved with a sewn‑in blackout liner, not lamination, so the face fabric retains its drape and texture
A true laminated blackout version isn’t offered because the jacquard weave is too open to accept a blackout interlayer without compromising the pattern’s integrity.
Formal Roman Styles
MD599 shines brightest in flat roman shades, where the uninterrupted fabric panel showcases the damask.
-
Hobbled romans are available but may distort the pattern repeat; sampling is recommended.
-
Relaxed romans are not advised for patterned fabrics, as the center droop disrupts motif alignment.
Custom Pattern Matching
For multi‑shade installations, we offer pattern matching so the damask aligns horizontally across adjacent shades. This requires additional yardage and a setup fee, and our workrooms match as precisely as your window widths allow. The result is a polished, designer‑level finish.
Care & Maintenance
Jacquard fabrics require gentle care to preserve their structure:
-
Dry‑clean only — water can cause satin floats to pucker
-
Regular dusting with a soft brush attachment
-
Professional cleaning every 2–3 years keeps the fabric looking its best
