DuraPVC Collection
Commercial Grade Durability
DuraPVC is engineered for environments where shades take real abuse. With a tensile strength of 3,500 psi—more than double that of standard polyester fabrics—it resists tearing, puncturing, and abrasion. This makes it the go‑to choice for schools, daycare centers, veterinary clinics, rental properties, and any space where shades are handled roughly or cleaned frequently.
Multiple Opacities, One Material
While PVC blackout shades are typically solid opaque sheets, the broader DuraPVC line uses engineered material thickness and filler content to create three distinct opacities:
-
Translucent (20% light transmission): soft, frosted glow—ideal for showers, spas, and wellness spaces
-
Room‑Darkening (5% transmission): excellent for bedrooms and media rooms where full blackout isn’t required
-
Blackout (<0.1% transmission): total darkness via a carbon‑loaded core
All opacities share the same surface finish and color palette, allowing seamless mixing within a project.
Chemical & Oil Resistant
PVC naturally resists a wide range of chemicals—including diluted acids, alkalis, and petroleum oils. DuraPVC shades shrug off brake fluid, cooking oil, cleaning solvents, and other harsh substances without staining or softening. This makes them ideal for laboratories, automotive garages, commercial kitchens, and industrial environments.
UL Certified Fire Retardant
Every DuraPVC shade meets the UL 94 V‑0 vertical burn rating, meaning it self‑extinguishes within 10 seconds once the flame is removed—the highest classification for plastic materials. It also complies with California TB 117‑2013 and NFPA 701. Certification documents are available for all commercial orders.
Embossed Textures Available
To elevate the look beyond basic smooth PVC, DuraPVC offers three embossed finishes:
-
Linen — subtle slub texture that mimics natural linen
-
Basketweave — classic crisscross pattern for added depth
-
Leathergrain — refined pebble texture with a sophisticated feel
These patterns are pressed into the PVC during extrusion, so they will not wear off or fade.
Recyclable Material
DuraPVC is 100% recyclable. At end of life, shades can be returned through our recycling program, where hardware is removed and the PVC is re‑ground for use in non‑consumer products. This closed‑loop process reduces landfill waste and supports corporate sustainability initiatives.
