How to Measure
Let’s make sure an inside mount will work for your cellular shades!
Using a metal tape measure, first check your inside mounting depth. Depth is measured from the window glass/back of the opening to the front edge where the brackets will sit.
See Specifications for the minimum inside-mount depth and flush-mount depth required for your selected configuration.
If your depth is not sufficient, please use our outside mount instructions. If space is limited, extension brackets can be purchased separately for installation.
How to Measure:
Let’s start with the Width:
- Measure inside of the window opening/frame from left to right to the nearest 1/8" at three places: at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8". That is your ordering width.
Now, let’s do the Height:
- Measure from the top inside of the opening to the bottom sill to the nearest 1/8" in three places: left, middle, and right. Write down all 3 and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height.
Note: Always provide the actual window opening measurements. For inside mounts, we may make a small deduction to help ensure smooth operation and bracket clearance.
Before you start, decide where you want to mount your cellular shades (above the opening, above the trim, on the trim, or on a door). You’ll need a flat surface for the brackets.
See Specifications for the minimum flat mounting
surface required for your selected configuration.
If space is limited, extension brackets can be purchased
separately for installation.
Your ordered width is typically the widest part of the headrail/cassette (tip-to-tip). For the best light control and appearance, we recommend ordering wider than the glass/opening.
Above the Window (No Trim) ›
Width:
Decide how much coverage you want around the opening. We recommend extending the shade 2"–4" on each side for better light control.
Measure left to right including your desired extra space — that is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from where the top of the shade will be mounted down to where you want the bottom of the shade to reach. If you have a protruding sill, measure to the top of the sill (or to your preferred stopping point). That is your ordering height.
Above the Trim ›
Width:
We recommend extending the shade 2"–3" past each side of the window opening for a cleaner look and improved light control.
Measure left to right including the extra space — that is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from where the top will be mounted down to your desired bottom point. If you prefer, you can measure to the bottom of the trim; for protruding sills, measure to the top of the sill. That is your ordering height.
Note: If your trim is thick and you need extra clearance, use shims or consider extension brackets.
On The Trim ›
Width:
We don't normally recommend mounting cellular shades directly on the trim unless your window configuration doesn't allow for other placements. Your ordering width must fit within your trim width.
Measure outer edge to outer edge of the trim at the top — that is your ordering width.
Height:
Measure from the top of the trim to the bottom of the trim (or to the top of the sill if you have a protruding sill). That is your ordering height.
Door Mount ›
Width:
Measure left to right from the outside edge of the glass trim to the other outside edge. If space allows, order the shade 2"–4" wider for better light control.
Height:
Measure from where you want the top mounted down to where you want the bottom of the shade to stop. That is your ordering height.

Recommendations and Limitations
Important Notes
- Manufacturing tolerances may vary by approximately ±1/8". Please enter your exact window measurements and do not make your own deductions. Any required factory deductions will be applied during production.
Cassette & Operating System
- Different fabric cell sizes and lift options may use different headrail or cassette configurations.
- Please review the Specifications before ordering to confirm the headrail/cassette dimensions, minimum inside-mount depth, and flush-mount depth required for your selected configuration.
- If you are unsure whether your selected configuration will fit your window, please email us before placing your order.
Motorized Options
Motorized Top Down Bottom Up Cellular Shades use a dual-motor system. One motor controls the upper moving rail, while the second motor controls the lower rail. The two rails can be operated independently or moved at the same time, giving you flexible control over light, privacy, and shade position.
Two motor options are available: Basic Remote Motor and Matter over Thread Motor. Both motor options can be paired with a compatible remote control. Remote controls are sold separately.
Basic Remote Motor
- Uses a dual-motor system controlled by a compatible remote control.
- The upper and lower rails can be controlled independently or operated together as needed.
- Does not support app or smart-home control.
Matter Motor
- Uses Matter over Thread for smart-home integration.
- Compatible with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings.
- A compatible Matter Controller / Thread Border Router is required. Many common smart-home devices already provide this function, including selected Apple TV, HomePod, Echo, Nest Hub, Nest Wifi Pro, and SmartThings Hub/Station models.
- No separate SenseBlinds or Tuya hub is required when your existing smart-home system already includes a compatible Matter/Thread device.
Remote Control
- Remote controls are sold separately.
- Before shipment, our factory will pair and configure the remote control with your motorized shade(s), so it will be ready to use when your order arrives.
- The remote allows the upper and lower rails to be operated independently or together.
- If you order one motorized shade, we will default to the single-channel version of the same remote style.
- If you are ordering multiple motorized shades, you do not need to purchase a separate remote for every shade.
- If multiple shades are installed in the same room, they can be paired with the same multi-channel remote and controlled individually or together.
- Please indicate in the Order Notes which rooms or shades you would like grouped on the same remote, or email us after placing your order.
Rechargeable Battery & Charging
- Motorized Top Down Bottom Up Cellular Shades use a rechargeable lithium battery system integrated into the headrail.
- A full charge typically provides approximately 6 months of use, depending on operating frequency and shade size.
- A 3-meter charging cable is included.
- Charging requires a standard 5V/2A USB power adapter; the wall adapter is not included.
- We do not recommend leaving the motor continuously connected to power, as this may reduce battery lifespan.
Optional Solar Panel
For high or hard-to-reach windows that receive consistent sunlight, an optional solar panel can help maintain the battery charge and reduce manual recharging. Performance may vary depending on sunlight, window orientation, season, and installation conditions.
