Eclipse Blackout Roman Shades
Concealed Blackout Core
Most blackout romans rely on a thick, rubbery backing that stiffens the fabric and mutes its color. Eclipse takes a different approach. A patented dot‑lamination process bonds a thin, flexible blackout membrane to the back of the face fabric without crushing the weave or altering the drape. The membrane is matte black, preventing light from bouncing back through the textile. The result is a roman shade that hangs as gracefully as a non‑blackout version while still delivering true 100% blackout.
No Light Bleed at Fold Lines
Horizontal fold lines are the Achilles’ heel of many roman shades—double layers of fabric can let pinpoint light through. Eclipse shades eliminate this issue by pre‑creasing each fold during fabrication and inserting a narrow strip of blackout material inside the crease. This reinforcement is invisible from the front but ensures that even the folds remain completely opaque.
Custom Fold Styles
Eclipse supports every major roman style, all available with blackout construction:
-
Flat Roman — crisp, tailored panels that stack into clean horizontal folds; ideal for modern spaces
-
Hobbled Roman — continuous soft loops that add depth and texture even when lowered
-
Relaxed Roman — a gentle, unstructured curve at the bottom for a more organic, casual look
Each style maintains full blackout performance thanks to the concealed membrane and reinforced folds.
Motorization for Heavy Blackout Fabrics
Blackout fabrics carry more weight than standard drapery textiles, especially once folded into roman stacks. For widths over 60 inches or drops beyond 72 inches, motorization is strongly recommended. Our high‑torque roman motors are engineered for the stacked weight of blackout fabrics, raising and lowering the shade smoothly without hesitation. Choose long‑life battery motors (3–5 years per charge) or hardwired options for frequent daily use.
Acoustic & Thermal Benefits
The layered construction of Eclipse romans provides meaningful performance advantages. The combination of face fabric, blackout membrane, and optional thermal lining can reduce sound transmission by up to 30% and adds roughly R‑2.0 of insulation to the window assembly. This makes Eclipse an excellent choice for home theaters, ground‑floor bedrooms, and urban apartments where noise and temperature control matter.
Fade‑Resistant Face Fabrics
All Eclipse face fabrics are solution‑dyed polyester or acrylic, rated Class 5 lightfastness for exceptional UV stability. They resist fading, yellowing, and discoloration even in rooms with strong sun exposure. We warranty the face fabric against significant fading for 10 years.
